Art, Feminism and Internet investigate how feminists, social and artistic claims arise in the networks. Visual images and artworks made by women have its own specific contribution to the cause. In the same way that it questions the ideologies of present social institutions, like any revolution, the feminist one ultimately must come to grips with the intellectual and ideological basis of the various scholarly disciplines (history, philosophy, sociology, psychology, etc.). In the field of art history, the white Western male viewpoint, has been unconsciously accepted as the viewpoint of the art historian. But women artists are capable of greatness too, as far as we know.
That is why the project Kohtaamisia curated by the artist Pilar Catalán is based on this research question, – why there have been no great women artists in history? -. And this question suggests to her: “On which basis has been written a history of art that excludes more than half of humanity?” Following Pilar Catalán, “From these considerations the project Kohtaamisia tends to question and unlink: 1- The status of genius as the central concept of the dominant artistic canon. 2- Unlinks the methodology of the discourses and practices of Art. 3- Relates ICT to feminism. 4 – Recover the historical memory of women in the Culture and Art. The goal is not only to make visible women artists but also use new technologies of image as a tool of artistic communication and design of a NEW VISION” or viewpoint.
